i like big stitches and i cannot lie

I have been loving cross stitch lately like a big girl loves cheese fries. My go to shop to buy patterns online is Wee Little Stitches- their patterns are so fun and modern but with a kooky twist! In the past few months, I made this kick butt Golden Girls piece:

And a custom wedding guy for this chickie using these colors:

The wedding's not until November so no picture will you see! You can click here though to see an example. :)

I also recently started The Big Bang Theory pattern for my FIL.
Kinda reminds me of that part in Back to the Future where homeboy's family starts disappearing from the picture in his wallet. :) Here's what it will look like once finished:

So, yes- not only do I love cross stitch but I looooooove the patterns that Wee Little Stitches offers! Lately though, I've been feeling like I should see what other pattern peeps there are out there besides the WLS crew... you know, just to keep the mystery alive. :) Lord have mercy, who knew that typing "cross stitch" into Etsy would take one down such a unique rabbit hole. Here are a few of my favorites bizarre patterns... the ones that are G rated. Yep, I accidentally found out that pornographic cross stitch patterns are indeed available. #pleasedontgivemeacomputervirus #itwasanaccident

This guy is from Purple Hippo Stitches. Because what fan of the Boys wouldn't love peacocks shouting for their rights?

Alicia Watkins is the designer of this hoppy pattern... and I just don't get it. Am I the only one?

The next two patterns are from CrassCross...

Umm...

And, the piece de resistance:

Teeth. From Nerdy Little Stitcher. Huh.

I also found some patterns that are a bit more, shall we say, mainstream that the above mentioned ones. Some of my new favorites are:

This bit of Castillian love from andwabisabi. Para siempre means always... love it. :)

I also really love these tree patterns from Charlotte Alexander. I'm a sucker for the symbolism- and aesthetic beauty- of trees and think these guys would look great in a nice long frame with a thick matte.

And, speaking of trees, how cute is this?!

That pattern is from Sewing Seed along with the next two. I REALLY love this shop and will totally be buying a pattern (or ten...) from it very soon.

And, finally, my new latest obsession, BABUSHKA DOLLS!!! These guys are making a great come back and I kinda want to deck my whole house out in them. I'll restrain, but you could certainly get on my good side by buying these for me. :) Anywho, take a look at this ridiculously cute pattern from Cupcake Cutie.

Seriously, could you love anything more? :)

So, though my first love of cross stitch patterns will always be Wee Little Stitches, turns out there are LOTS of other cute ones! And remember, for every pattern you buy from one of the shops featured on this page, an angel gets their wings. :)

xo, Kara

  1. You are making want to search through all the boxes in my parents' garage for the cross stitch kit I know I haven't looked at since I was about 12! There are some awesome patterns about these days!

  2. So fun! I think the truck one is a reference to Arrested Development and the Bluth truck with stairs. Do you know that show? If not, you should. It's a riot!

  3. Omg, do you not know Arrested Development? STOP what you are doing right now and watch it all. Sofa king funny. Also, I love Russian dollies too. And your cross stitch. I don't have the patience for it all. I miss count.

  6. LOL, yep, it's an Arrested Development reference -- and you should definitely check it out if you like funny things, particularly since season 4 is coming to Netflix soon(ish). But only if you like funny things.

I also love Charlotte Alexander's seasonal trees...I have visions of owning a living space one day that's NOT covered in Goodwill secondhand art, where I have one nail that will hold a seasonally relevant tree, and I will be SO GOOD at switching them at exactly the right time to make everyone feels "it's officially fall now." But I'm pretty sure that's the definition of a pipe dream.
